About the Program
Nenana City Public School has developed an Aviation Technology Program designed for students to explore STEM careers specific to Aviation. NCPS is continually working towards developing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) pathways and courses to help enhance the educational programs and prepare students for multiple post-secondary options that will meet the needs of today's 21st century, global world.
Currently in AK there is a noticeable shortage in many aviation careers around the state. We hope that with developing an Aviation Technology Program we can help promote ideas and develop strong aviation students to meet this rising demand. Our goal is not only to have students learn about Aviation Mechanics or Piloting, but also the wide range of careers available in Aviation. Students will be given the opportunity to not only work on their ground schooling, but receive flight instruction as well to work towards their Private Pilot License.
Students will also have the opportunity to get logged hours of Aviation Mechanics through Far North Aviation Services. NCPS will be contracting through Proflite of Alaska, LLC to provide the ground schooling and flight training.
